Technivorm Moccamaster Basket Hack
Have the best drip coffee maker on the planet? Me too! If you have the version from, I dunno eight years ago with the drip-stop assembly on the basket, you may have experienced an occasional clog, resulting in a huge mess on the counter-top, the coffeemaker and in your otherwise peaceful countenance. I sure did. It is hugely annoying that the coffeemaker touted all the the place as the best had this pretty wretched flaw. I lived with it for years until today.
It occurred to me that I NEVER use the drip-stop and therefore I could fix the clog/overflow problem by removing it. Which, I admit sounded like fun but also sounding a bit... un-reversable. I was gonna potentially wreck my fancy coffee machine. There are replacement parts - which is a huge part of the value of this machine - but I didn't want to have to wait for days or more to get a new basket if I destroyed it.
If the problem was a sketchy valve, then an alternative to removing the valve would be to provide an alternate means of flow for the coffee. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the basket and it works great now!

I wish I could tell you size of the drill bit, but I was too lazy to swap out the counter-sink bit that was already on the drill. You can see that it is fairly small hole. You'll figure it out!
